Board of Directors
Meet our board members
Grace Cortez, President | gcortez@creativeartscharter.org
I am honored to continue serving as President of the Board of Directors for a second year. As I enter my fourth year on the Board, I remain steadfast in my commitment to advancing equity and ensuring that our Essential Question is at the heart of our work. I believe that our collective efforts and advocacy are crucial to achieving fairness and success within our community. Having lived in San Francisco since 2004, I’ve cherished every aspect of this city. As a parent of two CACS students—Elliott in 6th grade and Gloria in 4th—my family and I deeply value exploring our diverse city, enjoying live music, and spending meaningful time with friends and family.

He has a BA in Economics from Colby College, and an MBA from UC Berkeley. Justin is passionate about the mission of the school and enjoys applying his skillset of fiscal management to enabling staff to deliver to students.
Eric Talbert | etalbert@creativeartscharter.org
Dear Fellow CACS Community Members, My name is Eric Talbert and my daughter is in the 6th grade at CACS. My family enjoys being part. of the CACS community and doing what we can to support it. My relevantexperience includes 20 years of nonprofit leadership. I have served on several nonprofit boards and currently do so with the Paul K. Longmore Institute on Disability.
I focused my volunteer time as a member of the CACS Board of Directors last year by serving on the Governance Committee. In partnership with the Board President and the Executive Director, this committee worked to
improve the positive impact of the Board of Directors by further aligning our policies and procedures with CACS’s mission, vision and values.
My personal commitment to CACS’s Essential Question is rooted in collective liberation, a deeply held belief that all of our struggles
are intimately connected, and that we must work together to create a more just and sustainable world by centering the needs of community members most impacted by systemic inequities.
My commitment as a CACS Board Member is grounded in the practice of active listening. Active listening allows us to provide necessary support and resources to our community based on the Essential Question, and develop effective solutions for moving forward together. Thank you for your support of our CACS community.
.

Tomer Doron | tdoron@creativeartscharter.org
Hello everyone!
Excited for the opportunity to join Create Arts Charter School’s board. As an immigrant parent of four CACS students, being involved with the school and its community is an important life priority. My professional background is tech, having worked in the tech industry for the last 25+ years. This includes working for large corporations like Apple, and running a handful of startups, including in the digital education / curriculum space. Looking forward to applying other skills in the context of contributing to CACS, including in finance, operations, and community building, and connecting with the CACS community and staff in a meaningful way.
Erin Walsh Keefe | ekeefe@creativeartscharter.org
My name is Erin Keefe. I have sons in 2nd and 4th grade at CACS. My family feels fortunate to be a part of this community, and I’m excited to assist the school in its next chapter. A few words about me: I enjoy biking around the city, picnics in our parks, reading and hiking. I love to dance, especially when my musician husband plays music. I am slowly learning to play the banjo and sing enthusiastically and off-key. We love that CACS values the Arts. A little bit about my relevant experience: I have practiced as an attorney for two decades in both public defense and in private business litigation. In law school, I was a member of a special public interest law & policy program. I have volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for youth in foster care, and for six years, I volunteered at a youth homeless shelter in San Francisco. I am committed to challenging institutional biases and transforming the legal landscape to be more equitable. In other words, I try to use my powers for good! As a CACS board member, I aspire to be an advocate for every child and community member at
CACS, use my legal background and skills to assist the school where needed, and support the school in its commitment to create anti-racist, art-centered classrooms rooted in love. As our wise teacher Ron Buchanan says, I believe that an antiracist educational experience raises us all up together.
About our board
The Board of Directors is the school’s governing body and consists of parents elected by the school community, a teacher representative, and appointed members from outside the school community. The Board is legally required by our school’s non-profit status and is responsible for setting policy for the school, overseeing school governance, and ensuring the financial stability of the school.
In the past two years, we have focused on creating a strategic plan, exploring building expansion possibilities, negotiating labor contracts and changing our enrollment policy to support diversity.
